Working within heavy budget constraints during the Covid 19 Pandemic, the client wanted to add a zest of life to the existing home which had been previously used as an investment property.  Returning to the house after a separation with child in tow, the brief was COLOUR and happy vibes.  This little boy was in need of more space, more play area, less clutter, nicer energy.

Needing to keep existing structures and fixtures, we worked around existing cabinetry and tiling to make this humble house a very happy home.  Small on size, big on impact.  The energy of the house is bright and welcoming with a beautiful Northern orientation and wonderful North-West facing backyard.

Some splashes of paint, moss green carpet (@fyber_flooring), many artworks introduced, new furniture throughout, a laundry renovation and a backyard transformation.

The 'Loft Room' had gone through MANY different iterations trying to make the teeny tiny 2.9 x 2.9 bedroom with a double bed work.  We dreamed of being able to do a loft, a ‘two story house’ within his room, but it just felt like too big a feat.  However, we discovered that if we demolished the existing wardrobe and moved it to a different wall, it could actually work brilliantly.  And we needed to action this ASAP before the magical green velvet grass (carpet) was laid (@fyber_flooring)

 

Fast forward a few months, a budget that blew out due to increased material and labour costs, delays of course, due to Covid and freight. What a magical result. This boy has an entire room of floor space to play, a custom built double bed loft, a custom made rounded shelf bookcase and the most wonderful memories storing away in his beautiful mind of recreating his room.  A brilliant outcome that we couldn’t be happier with. And a very excited boy and Mum, of course.
